Collection: The "White Thai" of Vietnam

The White Thai ethnic minority group of northwestern Vietnam has a rich textile tradition. Settled into the mountains to the far west of Hanoi, close to the border with Laos, they continue to weave the fabrics for their traditional clothing.

Many villages grow their own cotton on this day.

The making of the stuffed animals is a new source of income and a perfect way to highlight the unique and beautiful patterns of their textiles. It is also attracting a new generation of makers to learn the crafts of their elders and to keep the tradition alive.

These animals are for decorative purposes only and should never be placed near fire or other high heat sources.
